In Life of Pi, when young Pi goes to feed a piece of meat to Richard Parker, his father tells him: “What you see in the animal’s eyes is your own emotion reflected back at you.”
Sometimes (or perhaps, always?), that’s how it is with people too. What you see in others is your own actions reflected back at you. You accuse them of ignoring you, maybe that’s what you are doing to them.
The question is, are your actions/emotions reflected in their eyes, or are theirs reflected in yours?
Very thought provoking and I must admit that I have never thought in the same way. However, it might not always be the case – some could be judgmental.
i agree. but i feel sometimes misunderstanding can also occur in judgement.
I wonder Jeena-are our emotions always reciprocated? They would be,if this was true.
Thank you for the comments, Abhra, Amar and Indu. Some people say, "All feelings are mutual". I don't know. Probably (not).
We emote and the world reacts. That's why it called reflections. Materially it is starting from the one who shows action and the reflection is mirroring it. But in spiritual, everything is just action reaction in the unreal. Afterall everything is just a dream. Nothing actually happens.
Never thought so deeply, but I think it can be an interesting observation.
I am not quite sure I understand it completely, Krishna, but thank you for your comment.
Thanks Indrani. I've been thinking of the comments left by the others above. Yes, it is not *always* the case, but very often I believe it is.
