Ignorance and indifference

A friend of mine asked me what was the difference between ignorance and indifference.
I told him ‘I don’t know and I don’t care.’

I would rather be protected by my ignorance about a world that my society indifferently turns its back on, than be pained by the knowledge that I can do nothing to shield it.
